Introducing Daylesford Village

28th November 2022

Surrounded by these distinctive hills, lying in the midst of a valley you will find Daylesford Village, a hamlet of 15 Cotswold-stone cottages nestled on the Daylesford Estate.

The Cotswolds are renowned for beautiful sweeping landscapes as far as the eye can see, with meadows, ancient woodlands and native wildlife. Steeped in history, the cottages are a unique place to enjoy the picturesque countryside on your doorstep, with Daylesford Organic Farm just a stone’s throw away.

When the stockbroker Harman Grisewood bought the Daylesford Estate in 1853, he set about modernising the working farm and rebuilding the estate, along with a school and church for his household staff and tenant farmers.

Rebuilt in 1868 using stone from the local limestone quarries; the architecturally decorative cottages, hall and schoolhouse were heavily influenced by the Tudor Gothic style, with pointed arch windows, plank doors and decorative hinges.

Today, each self-contained cottage is individually furnished and each retaining its own distinct character. Open plan living spaces provide the perfect place to relax in front of the fireplace during cooler months, and private gardens to the rear for warmer days.

A home-away-from home with electric AGAs and kitchens fully equipped with Daylesford Organic kitchenware.

The cottages range in size from Wisteria Cottage, a one bed bolthole perfect for a couple, to the spacious four-bedroom Old School House with a secluded terrace and private views across the Daylesford Estate.
