One Tree Planted for Every Cocktail

We teamed up with our friends at Sapling Spirits to curate a cocktail list to mark Earth Month; each including a nod to small actions we believe can make a positive impact.

With thanks to Sapling, for every one of the 50 Earth Month cocktails sipped throughout April, a tree will be planted. Climate positive, delicious, and sustainable – what better way to enjoy Earth Month while supporting a greener future, helping to plant more trees and offset carbon emissions.

Sapling is dedicated to planting trees across the globe to support farmers, communities, and bringing people together. They collaborate with charities and sponsor tree planting initiatives to increase the number of trees in the ground. When selecting planting locations, they consider the local soil conditions to ensure that the trees planted are indigenous to the area, giving them the best chance to thrive.

In the UK, Sapling has planted a variety of trees, including Willows, Dogwoods, and Nut Trees, among others – we look forward to joining the next tree planting days later this year.

If you were not able to come along to one of our pubs to enjoy the special menu, try this delicious recipe at home.

Ingredients

B the Pollution Solution

25ml Sapling Gin
35ml Vault Meadow White Vermouth
10ml Beesou Honey Aperitif
METHOD

Add all the ingredients to a mixing tin or container to stir the drink in.

Add ice and stir briskly for about 30-45 seconds, which should be approximately 50 turns.

Place a strainer over the tin and strain into a chilled old-fashioned glass or tumbler. We served ours over a big block of ice to minimize dilution and maintain a colder temperature for longer.

We used Sapling Climate Positive London Dry Gin as the base of this drink, known for its bold juniper, zesty, and rosemary notes, with a tree planted for every bottle sold.

Vault Aperitivo’s Meadow White Vermouth is a herbaceous and floral aperitif crafted in England. It begins with a base of English wine infused with botanicals such as lemon verbena, liquorice root, and meadow hay. Additionally, it incorporates freshly foraged herbs and flowers, including thyme, meadowsweet, and dandelion. The vermouth is gently sweetened with honey, resulting in a delicate, semi-dry profile.

Vault Aperitivo are committed to supporting reforestation programs and utilizing sustainable packaging materials. Their bottles are made from 100% recycled post-consumer waste, and all packaging components are recyclable and biodegradable.

We finished the drink of with Beesou Honey Aperitif. Beesou is a bittersweet, all-natural honey aperitif made with ethically sourced British honey and natural botanicals, known for its distinct yellow colour from safflower extract.

We garnished with raw hand cut honeycomb from Daylesford.
