Introducing Fowler’s House & Old House

The largest of the group’s self-accommodation cottages, they are the perfect location for family gatherings and groups of friends looking for the quintessential Cotswolds escape.

Tucked away down a private lane in the heart of Kingham, Old House and Fowler’s House are the latest additions to The Wild Rabbit’s collection. The largest of the group’s self-accommodation cottages, they are the perfect location for family gatherings and groups of friends looking for the quintessential Cotswolds escape.

Our in-house team of architects have remodelled much of the buildings from restored and reclaimed timber beams and exposed the original Cotswold stone walls. Each house bears the unique marks of craftsmanship applied over the course of centuries, and by stripping back generational layers of plaster, the original framework of the buildings is celebrated.

Working with local craftsmen and artisans the team sourced hazel branches felled from the Daylesford estate to form architectural features, hooks and rails. Wool from Daylesford Organic Farm’s sheep has been used to insulate the roofs and make woollen blankets, whilst antique furniture was reupholstered using vintage fabrics.

The interiors are a combination of antique pieces sourced from around the world, bespoke and antique furniture reupholstered with vintage fabrics and Daylesford homewares.

Originally a farmhouse, Old House was built in the late 17th century and it remains full of character, surrounded by its own walled garden. Light and airy with a spacious, fully equipped kitchen and open plan dining area, it is ideal for family and friends.

The four double bedrooms offer the ultimate in comfort from handcrafted horsehair mattresses, made by one of the UK’s oldest mattress manufacturers and finished with the softest toppers to sumptuous bed linen.

Built by William Warde-Fowler in 1879, Fowler’s boasts uninterrupted views across farmland. A fellow of Lincoln College, Oxford and an avid bird watcher and walker, Warde-Fowler designed his home to replicate an Oxford townhouse, with a sweeping rear terrace ideal for enjoying long afternoons watching the surrounding wildlife.

The new cottages are available from 1st April, prices start from £5500 for Old House, for a minimum four-night stay, and £7000 for Fowler’s House, for a minimum 5 night stay. Click here for availability.
