Sustainable Sourcing

The provenance of our food, drinks and room amenities is very important to us. Our menus change with the seasons, celebrating the best that nature has available. We champion British produce and choose local suppliers that can demonstrate high welfare standards with low environmental impact. In our rooms we use natural and organic fibres, and Bamford toiletries made from only the highest quality natural ingredients.

Food and beverages

At our heart we are a business that centres around food and how it connects us to each other and to nature. Our menus are truly seasonal, celebrating the best that nature has to offer at any time of year. Our chefs love working with the highest quality ingredients from local growers who demonstrate exceptional standards of land husbandry and animal welfare. Much of our produce comes from our sister farm at Daylesford Organic, who produce 300 varieties of fruit and vegetable across the year and meat that is traceable from field to fork.

Food from further afield is sourced to the same high standards. For example, we work closely with our fish suppliers to buy from sustainably managed stocks. Animal proteins such as salmon or game often come from ‘farmed’ sources where there is no sustainable wild option. In these cases, we choose suppliers working to organic or other elevated, certified welfare standards. Discover our From the Source series delving deeper into what guides our sourcing policies.

Room amenities

Guests will find the same sourcing ethos in our rooms, where we are aiming to provide a zero waste stay with amenities that carry a light footprint. Robes and towels are made from durable organic cotton, a natural fibre made without the use of chemicals and with a far lower water use than conventional cotton. In our bathrooms, Bamford toiletries are COSMOS certified for their use of natural and organic ingredients which are kind to skin and planet. We have eliminated all single use items – this includes our 50ml toiletries which have been phased out for refillable aluminium bottles. Read more about our plastics strategy.
