Sustainable Home & Living

Each of our pub rooms and cottages is unique. Our talented team of architects and designers have created bespoke interiors for every space, giving each its own individual character.

However, it is what unites all of our rooms that sets them apart: an unwavering commitment to conscious sourcing. Join us on a tour of one of our Daylesford Stays cottages to uncover the subtle details and careful choices.

Seamlessly blending rustic charm with luxurious comfort, our living spaces display a carefully curated mix of natural furnishings surrounded by original architectural features. Exposed wooden beams and stone walls hung with specially commissioned art pieces from local artists complement neutral fabrics and bespoke furniture made by carpenters using traditional joinery skills. Finishing touches are made using foliage and floristry from our organic cutting garden, and fire logs from our Estate. It is our commitment to sourcing the finest handcrafted homeware, though, that pulls everything together.

Our kitchens showcase the best of the core Daylesford homeware ranges, chosen for their quality and artisanal craftsmanship. Crockery from our Pebble collection is made exclusively for Daylesford by a family business in Thailand who are experts in stoneware clay and have been working with us for many years. Each piece is finished by hand and features a trademark matt glaze finish which scratches with use over time, resulting in uniquely patterned pieces that reflect their history. The same goes for our exclusive Ledbury glassware, made for us by master glassmakers in Eastern Europe using traditional techniques and hand-blown around wooden moulds. The artisanal handmade process is visible in the tiny imperfections in the glass.

Elsewhere in the kitchen you may find our Campagna serving platters, fruit bowls and even egg cups. This rustic tableware range is made in Tuscany by artisans who work the local clay by hand to create uniquely patterned and textured pieces which complement any food spread. Storage jars and chopping boards are from our Henry range, designed by our in-house team and made using FSC-certified oak to create the most durable, beautiful items.

In the bedrooms our luxurious bedding is paired with Bamford’s organic cotton robes and towels, designed for comfort and durability. The towels are made on looms by our partners in a small town in Portugal, and each size of towel from face cloth to bath sheet has its own warp style. Double cloth waffle robes are made from long staple cotton sourced from Turkey, which is known for its wonderful natural colour and softness. Our rooms also feature examples of local artisan craft; bespoke wrought iron detailing and light fixtures have been traditionally hand forged by Gloucestershire blacksmiths and stunning willow lampshades are hand woven by willow workers from the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen.

It is a unique feature of a Daylesford Stay to be surrounded by the work of such talented craftspeople, and we take enormous pride in the long-standing relationships we have built with our suppliers. Click here to find out more about our sustainability principles.
